Approved in 2016, the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the most significant legislative change in European data protection legislation in the last 20 years. The GDPR, entered into force on May 25, 2018, aims to strengthen the security and protection of personal data in the EU and serve as a single legislative instrument for the entire EU. It will replace the EU Data Protection Directive and all local laws related to it.
We support the GDPR and we will make sure that Edueca complies with its provisions. The GDPR is not only an important step in protecting the fundamental right to privacy of European citizens, but also raises the bar for data protection, security and compliance in the industry.
We act as data controller and data processor under the GDPR.
The transfer of international data is applicable in the event that data of citizens of the European Union are going to be transferred to persons or entities outside the EU (example: a student from Spain enrolls in a course in the United States). This transfer will require the express consent of the user and verification by CIDET that the recipient country is on the list of countries accepted by the European Commission.
In the previous paragraph, the cases in which the user's data are transferred to the client are detailed (for example, the student's data is transferred to a teacher).
This power also entails a responsibility, and for that reason, the data processing agreement is part of Edueca's license. Any person who manages personal data within Edueca (for example, the case of a teacher, the owner of a project) is obliged to comply with the GDPR. You must provide us with the contact information, and make it public, in order to deal with any claim that a user may make. CIDET is not responsible for the improper use of the data that has been transferred.
